Hidden gem of the southern Highlands
Having played a few courses in the NSW Southern Highlands I am accustomed to what to expect for golf courses in that area, however I was pleasantly surprised by the course.
I've had friends play the course who mentioned how tough it was so I went in with a preconceived notion that I might be in for a challenge, for that I was not disappointed. The course is long enough to challenge lower handicappers but provides enough room for the those with a higher handicap and an overall enjoyable experience for any golfer of any ability.
Highly recommend heading down for a round with the added benefit of being able to make a weekend of it with peppers manor house right next door.
Hidden Gem
A professional standard course available to all at a very competitive price
Has potential
A fairly nice country course semi attached to the Peppers Manor House this course, on paper at least, looks to be a layout to test most average players. With most par 4s over 400 metres and par 5s well over 500 metres this course is a test of ball striking. The problem for me is the brutal rough in som places only a metre or so from the fairway. This rough is in play on nearly every hole and is made worse by the fact that any ball hit into it is almost certainly lost. The grass in the rough is on average over 2 feet deep and is intertwined so even walking around in the rough is a physical challenge. The course doesn’t need this brutal rough to pose a stern test to the average golfer, the length and slope of the course along with comparatively small targets makes you work hard for your score. They could knock the height of the rough 6” and you could find your ball and still be severely punished for missing the fairway, but at least you wouldn’t lose your ball. So all in all a good course but make sure you have plenty of balls if you want to play
