King of the Sandbelt?

I'm not the only one who visits the Australian Sandbelt for the first time and comes back stateside thinking Kingston Heath is its best course. Royal Melbourne sports a great composite course. If you're comparing 18s on the West or East to Kingston Heath, that's where a 'King' emerges.
That Kingston Heath was awarded a President's Cup (2028) only bolsters this claim. Ultimately, I think the bunkering is more sophisticated and pleasing to the eye than at RM. I also can't think of a weak hole.

Classic, Playable Melbourne Sandbelt Golf

Kingston Heath is a stunning, challenging, yet playable golf course that can be enjoyed by all levels of golfers. While Royal Melbourne and Victoria can be quite penal, KH (while it could have been the softer conditions) seemed like a slightly wider and more open experience.

I particularly enjoyed the smooth way each hole would transition into another, and in numerous places the golfer can look out and see the activity on other holes, without being in danger of being hit by balls from the next fairway. The smooth transition between the tactical 8th hole, into 9, which allows observation of the 7th tee is really special. My favourite hole, while only a short par 4 requiring an iron off the tee, was the 8th. A tight fairway with bunkers in the driver landing zone sees the golfer hitting a wedge into a green gorgeously framed by bunkers and native grasses.

Played the course with the 19th spare hole as the 2nd. Some green aprons being sanded. Otherwise perfect condition.

Magnificent Clubrooms with memorabilia and a wonderful Mural of the historical figures associated with the club.

One of the best in Australia

If you find yourself in the area this is one of the must play courses. Booked well in advance, played with 3 members, had a great day despite playing badly. A beautiful links course, steeped in history. Very friendly staff and nice facilites A must play in the Melbourne sand belt area

One of the best Down Under

Played it 3 times now. Greens are awesome. Quick and true. A little bit pricey but definitely worth it if you can organize a visit. Not as well manicured as Metropolitan, but there are a number of memorable holes. If you’re in the area to play the Sandbelt courses it’s a must play.
